October 5th, 2009
These days, it is almost impossible for a person to look for information on a certain topic without thinking of using the internet and the World Wide Web as their source of the information. This is due to the fact that the web contains just about all the information that a person needs while researching for work or for school. But before anyone can access any type of information, he has to type in a special keyword or a phrase referring to the topic that he is researching about. This is why search engines are very important.
Search engines provide a list of the websites that one needs for a certain topic. How does the search engine know what websites are to be included in the list and which website should go first on the list? The answer is search engine optimization or SEO. SEO is a process wherein the number of people who view a website is controlled. Therefore, in a search engine, the websites at the top of the list are those which are viewed more frequently. But a website is not automatically listed in a search engine that easily. There are many factors which the search engine and its managers look for in a website to include it in a list after keywords are typed in. SEO helps in selecting the targeted traffic or the number visitors who need to access the information in a website.
There are some important facts to remember so that the number of visitors of a website is controlled and only those who really need the information provided by the website are the ones to prioritize. You could find these important facts in SEO articles which really help make the website have a controlled number of visitors. Here are some of those guidelines to consider for your website to be included in a search engine list when someone types those keywords. First, a website should name the articles on their web pages properly. This means that the title of the article on the page of the website should say what topic the article centers on. It is a good strategy to make the keywords the title or part of the title. When naming a file or article on a web page, it is best to use hyphens instead of underscores.
The next tip is that there should be no hidden text within an article. It is also advised that you shouldn’t use more than two keywords when optimizing one web page. Another tip is to have a sitemap for your website. Having the sitemap will help improve the standing of the website in a search engine because it would be easy to navigate around the site. A website should have a page in case an error occurs. This way, a visitor would know whether or not he or she would navigate away from the page. If all of these rules are observed and applied on a website, it is a certainty that all these would improve search engine ranking for the site.
